A Lonely Window and a Sheet

My roommate decided to move out and what really makes all of this funny is that it felt like we were getting divorced and she left in the middle of the night to run away with the mistress.  Oh wow.  Here is the funny part though... she took the curtain out of my bathroom and there is a clear shot from the outside into the shower.  I mean, seriously, I would have returned it in a month when I moved out.  Oh the joys of living in crazy land with roommates. Certainly this time I will make sure to own any of the curtains hanging in my bathrooms in the future to prevent a repeat.  Oh wait, there was something else to make this even better... she left a bag behind that she meant to take with her and in that bag was a laser pointer/usb presentation kit that I let her borrow.  Worth much more than a curtain I assure you.  My solution is the photo that you see, I thumb tacked a sheet up to the window in my bathroom.  Luckily I had a sheet that happened to be the same color as the curtain that used to occupy the same space so I still feel at home in my bathroom.  Great day!

The Troll Under the Bridge

First, before I even get to the story about the troll, let's talk about my tour guide who brought me here to the troll under the bridge in Seattle.  One word for him, crazy.  No wait... there is another, bitter.  So on my "crazy bitter" tour of Seattle we stopped by this landmark.  The under part of the bridge used to be primarily occupied by drug dealers who would not go away despite the local law enforcement's best efforts.  The art department at Washington University was called in and carved out the troll under the bridge.  The drug dealers had such a hard time doing business with all of the attention the troll was drawing that they had to find a new location.  Genius.
This is the part of town that I thought I wouldn't mind living in.  I think most of the homes were well over 1 million dollars but can you blame me?  Look at that beautiful landscaping.  It was a far cry from the dirt and rocks of Las Vegas.

I'm pretty sure behind me in this picture is Puget Sound.  We drove over it to get to Seattle.  The whole city is pretty remarkable and has a lot of interesting history.  My favorite story, which I hope was true, was how the streets used to be below the level of the stores so people would have to climb a ladder up to the shops and then to get to the next they'd have to go down and up another ladder.  Just think of the women doing that in those monsterous dresses, that must have been a lot of work!

My Mom's 55th Surprise Party!

Last weekend almost my whole family was here in Vegas to visit and celebrate my mom's 55th birthday.  We had a lot of fun at the park on Saturday during the day and on the Strip that night.  Here is a photo of Louie, Alexis and Amber.  Everyone is growing up so fast!
